Valley - Banff National Park
The Bow Valley is the gateway to the
High Rockies and has been a travel route for over 10,000 years.
The unique beauty of the Canadian Rockies in the Bow Valley is its
glaciers, the lakes and the beautiful valleys. See Sulphur Mountain
and amazing views of the valleys in Banff Townsite, especially of
the Banff Springs Hotel, Mount Rundle and Vermilion Lakes. You will
be amazed at the aerial views of the rugged mountains, glaciers,
icefields, alpine meadows, beautiful blue cold-water lakes if you
take an air tour to Banff National Park and Bow Valley.
High above the Bow Summit along the
Rocky Mountain Trench is Peyto Lake. Located between Lake Louise
and the Columbia Icefields. The lake is fed by the runoff from the
Peyto Glacier which gives it the magnificent blue colour. Peyto
Glacier is about 5km to the south of the lake above a rock wall
that only climbers can scale. Hikers can only gaze up at the wall
and dream of the view from the top. Seeing Peyto Lake from the air
is the only way to capture it's true beauty.
Mountain - Lake Louise
One of the Banff National Park's most
distinctive mountains, located in the Bow Valley Parkway. It is
a striking peak with steep walls and rises above Trans-Canada highway
not far from Lake Louise. Lake Louise, with its blue-green water
is set against the Victoria Glacier. An aerial tour of this area
allows you to see panoramic views of Banff National Park including
Chateau Lake Louise and Morraine Lake.
Mount Assiniboine, an 11,870-foot (3,561
m) towering snow and rock pyramid known as "the Matterhorn of the
Rockies" one of the most impressive individual peaks in the Canadian
Rockies. It is located in Mt. Assiniboine Park and lies across the
British Columbia and Alberta borders. This aerial tour allows you
to see Lake Magog, which lies at the northern foot of Mount Assiniboine,
Sunshine Meadows through which runs the Great Divide, Howard Douglas
Lake, Marvel Lake and Wonder Pass.
